Persistence

If nothing else, I am definitely persistent and it appears to have paid off. Here's a picture of the pea, the sprout or whatever you'd like to call it from yesterday's ultrasound. Since he/she is a bit bigger now (and since this picture has some good magnification going on), I'll try to direct you a bit better as far as where to look and what you're looking at.

So, in the middle of the picture you see this dark half circle thingie...right about it is the baby kind of looking like a little blob. His/her (man, I can't wait until we find out whether we're having a boy or a girl so I can use one pronoun!) little head is on the left side (look for the plus sign like I mentioned in the last post) and the little bum is on the left side. Use your imagination and you can kind of see that we do have a rather human-looking being here now. :) Still just not getting it? Well, there will be other ultrasounds....and as we go along here our little one will look more and more like a little baby and sooner or later, I have faith, you'll be able to make out all the major features. :)

Now finally, in case you're not up on your metric measurements (as I'm not), I have pulled out my handy dandy ruler that has both inches and centimeters so I can tell you that 2 weeks ago the baby was a bit shy of 1/4 inch in size...about the size of a little pea hence the nickname. :) Now it's just shy of about 3/4 of an inch (which is pretty impressive if you think about it!) or about the size, let's say, of a rather plump raspberry. I'm not sure I mentioned in my post yesterday that this is great news that we have a healthy little grower like this. It means it's about 90% sure that the pregnancy is viable. The only hurdle left is making it past trimester 1...which is only one month away (thank goodness - this morning, noon and night sickness is killer!).
