Happy Father's Day!
Happy Father's Day to both of our dads - Larry and Mike! We hope you are enjoying your little giftie. Say it with us now - "Michael Savage is the bomb!"
We find ourselves on a bright sunny morning this Father's Day looking forward to seeing at least one of "the dads" in just a few days. We don't have a whole lot planned. We'll probably clean the garage out and perhaps make a run to Home Despot to buy a water pan for one of MeLissa's plants. Pixie is hiding under the quilting table, unaware that in a couple of short days she'll be left here to fend for herself. Well, not exactly, the lovely Bonnie has graciously agreed to keep Pixerella entertained and fed while we're away. MeLissa needs to write up the customary instructions which will include this time around, plant watering instructions lest we return to a balcony of dying beauties. We're hopeful she won't mind. :)
In other news, Mark passed his clinic entrance exam. We're terribly proud of him and glad that very soon he'll be able to take over MeLissa's care...there's one less medical expense to take care of (which is good because those COBRA premiums for our health insurance coverage are going to be murder we have a feeling).
Speaking of which, MeLissa made it safely through her last day of work at Safeway! Her coworkers and her boss celebrated her new cubicle-free life with lunch at Sweet Tomatoes (similar to Souper Salad for those of you familiar with that chain). Her coworkers enjoyed actually seeing her eat something since at pretty much every function she's been to at the company, she couldn't eat anything except maybe a piece of fruit. That afternoon, they also threw a farewell party complete with cake that MeLissa wasn't supposed to eat, but did much to the joy of her friends and coworkers. And, as usual, there are pictures, but blogger isn't cooperating so you'll have to wait to see them.
She is now a bonafide self-employed individual and it feels so good. She can't wait to make her mark on the wedding and event market - watch out subpar coordinators, consultants and planners, she's here to party like it's 1999. Ha ha! Seriously, though, she's very happy to finally do something that makes getting up in the morning a joy instead of something she just has to do.
This weekend we've kept busy primarily with cleaning and organizing things so that when we return "home" from Colorado we won't have to come home to a messy house (a major pet peeve of MeLissa's). Stay tuned for more details. :)
